Rosen-Method

The Rosen Method® was developed by Marion Rosen in Berkeley, California. It is an independent bodywork technique that helps to release and process physical and psychological tension.

Throughout our lives, we have experiences that shape us and our bodies. These experiences influence our muscle tension, body awareness, feelings and behavior. Chronic muscle tension can be an expression of suppressed, unconscious feelings. Tension restricts us like internal barriers. We lose vitality and contact with our innermost core.

The mindful touch of the Rosen Method® helps us to become aware of and feel our own muscle tension. Rosen practitioners respond to their clients' inner experiences and accompany them in this process. This allows the pain and stressful patterns stored in the body's memory to be released. The verbal exchange between practitioner and client about what is perceived physically and emotionally is essential and helpful in this process.

The Rosen Method® is an effective complement to psychotherapy and medical treatments.

A treatment

A treatment usually lasts one hour and is mostly performed while lying down on a massage table. However, it can also take place in a side position or sitting up. The touch is skin-to-skin, but can also be performed through clothing. Areas of the body that are not being touched are covered with a sheet.

During the treatment, the practitioner observes the client's body to identify tense and relaxed areas. The session usually begins where the muscles are tense. The practitioner touches these areas with gentle hands, applying varying degrees of pressure. The hands remain there until there is a change, a physical reaction. At the same time, the practitioner describes what she sees and feels so that the client can better perceive herself. General questions about the client's life may also be asked, while observing how the body reacts. Any feelings or experiences that arise can be expressed, either verbally or non-verbally.
